Message from the President
Another games in the record book, the best games yet! Except for the rain and cool temperature on Saturday, it was truly a great weekend. My hat goes off to those patrons and participates of the games who braved the weather to get their Celtic on! The events on Fremont Street were amazing. The World Record Caber toss on Friday was a real nail biter! Please go to our facebook page to watch the incredible video. I’m extremely happy that no one was hurt and no property damage occurred!
Celtic Rockers 1916 wowed the crowd as did the Kris Colt & the Black Rose Band. Additional entertainment from Neil O’Neill, Katy Lawrence Trio, Finnegan’s Wake along with Sharon Lynn’s Irish Dancers, rounded out the games. I think the stand out of the weekend had to be the Third Marine Aircraft Wing Band with the LA Scots, very moving and powerful performances. I hope we can bring them back next year!
All in all the weekend went great! I saw a lot of old friends and made some new ones. We had a beautiful VIP Café, great piping & drumming competition along with an incredible drum major contest. Highland Dance had a great turnout this year. Our Heavy Athletics were the best we ever had; a big thank you goes out to SAAA Chief Dave Garman and his staff for bringing us a first class show.
I would like to thank our sponsors - Golden Nugget, Hennessey’s Tavern, Century Link and MYLVTV. A special thank you to the Fremont Street Experience and their staff for seeing our vision and letting us go crazy! It was a pleasure working with all of you.
Finally, I would like to thank the Executive Board, Chairpersons and the Volunteers, for putting on a world class event, for without these dedicated people none of this would be possible!
